KINDS OF THE NOUN

Noun:- a noun is the name of a person, animal, place or thing.

There are five kinds of noun.
1. Proper noun       
2. Common noun     
3. Collective noun    
4. Material noun   
5. Abstract noun     


* Proper noun
A proper noun is the name of a particular person, place, Animal or thing.

Example :- (Special naming words)
Special names of  persons and animals :- 
Ramesh, Geeta, Sita, Moti, lucky, Tommy and others.
 Special names of places:- 
India, Nepal, Asia, Bettiah, Harivatika etc

Special names of rivers, creeks, seas, oceans, forests, deserts:-
Ganga Yamuna, Bay of Bengal, Indian Ocean etc.

Special names of monuments and buildings:-
Golghar, Taj Mahal, Red fort etc
Special names of books and languages:-
 The Ramayan, the Geeta, Hindi, English etc.

Special names of days and months:-
Sunday, Monday, January, February, March etc.

Newspapers and special names of festivals:-
the Hindustan time, Eid, Holi, Deepavali etc

Common noun:- (common naming words)

The name which is common to every person animal, place or thing of the same kinds is called a common noun.
Example :- boy, woman, student, horse, father, frog, dog, crow, village, country,  mango, rose, flower, box, ball, room, egg, eye, body etc;

* Difference between proper noun and common noun.
Ranchi is a city. 
Radhika is a girl.
India is a country. 
Ganga is a river.
January is first month of the year.

Ranchi, Radhika,India,Ganga and January  are proper nouns in these sentences.
But in the above sentences, girl, month, year,  country and river are common nouns.

Collective noun:- (group of naming words)
The noun which denotes a group of persons or things is called a collective noun.
 Example :- Army,  mob, crowd, team, bunch, class, gang, family,  parliament etc.

Note:- Saying the word "army" gives a sense of soldiers.  In this way, the above mentioned other words denote some group or the other, hence they are Collective Nouns.

 Material noun:- (measure and weighted naming words)

The noun which makes other substances and can be measured or weighed but cannot be counted, such a noun is called a material noun.

Example :- water, milk, Oil, honey, tea, wheat, pulse, rice, gold, silver, brass, wood, wool, etc

* Difference between Material noun and common noun.

The noun from which a substance is understood is called a material noun and a noun which gives a sense of classification is called a common noun.

Note:- Gold, wood, iron and papers are material nouns;  Because they have a sense of matter.  But the items made from them are common noun.

* Wood is a material noun but chair, table, bench, deck etc. made of it are common nouns.

* Paper is a material noun but a book made out of it is a common noun.

Abstract noun:- (only feeling name in words)
The noun which denotes some quality, state, feeling that we can only feel but cannot see or touch is called an abstract noun.

Example :- goodness, kindness, greatness, weakness, sweetness, darkness, hardness, childhood, friendship, knowledge, laughter, Hatred, honesty, love, life, death, fear, sleep, heat, beauty, healthy etc.

[Note:- Kindness, honesty, childhood etc is a quality that we can neither see nor touch, only feel]
Art and Science names are abstract nouns like Grammar, Physics, Chemistry, Music, History etc.

* Modern classification of noun:-
There are three kinds of noun
1. Proper noun
2. Countable nouns
The noun which can be counted is called the Countable.
3. Uncountable nouns
The noun which cannot be counted is called the uncountable noun.

लिंग / वाक्य-प्रयोग द्वारा लिंग-निर्णय

लिंग - जिस शब्द से पुरुष जाति या स्त्री जाति का बोध हो, उसे लिंग कहते हैं। (हिंदी में सजीव के अलावा निर्जीव और भाव को भी पुरुष जाति अथवा स्त्री जाति में रखा गया है) लिंग के भेद-  हिंदी में लिंग के दो भेद हैं। 1. पुलिंग - जिस शब्द से पुरुष जाति का बोध हो, उसे पुलिंग कहते हैं। जैसे:- सजीव - श्याम, पिता, ऊंट, हाथी, बैल  इत्यादि। निर्जीव - नेत्र, तारा, ऊख, पवन, पैर, शरीर इत्यादि। भाव - प्रातः, बुढ़ापा, बचपन, अपनत्व इत्यादि। 2. स्त्रीलिंग - जिस शब्द से स्त्री जाति का बोध हो उसे स्त्रीलिंग कहते हैं। जैसे:- सजीव - राधा, गोरी, गाय, माता, घोड़ी इत्यादि। निर्जीव - इमारत, केस, पुस्तक, पेन इत्यादि। भाव - खटास, मिठास, ईमानदारी, सांस इत्यादि। लिंग निर्णय:- लिंग निर्णय में वाक्य छोटे एवं सरल रखें। ऐसा वाक्य न बनाएं, जिससे लिंग निर्णय स्पष्ट ना हो।    यह एक विद्यालय है। यह एक गाय है। उपर्युक्त वाक्य सभी शुद्ध हैं, लेकिन लिंग निर्णय की दृष्टि से अशुद्ध हैं। क्योंकि वाक्य से विद्यालय / गाय पुलिंग है या स्त्रीलिंग स्पष्ट नहीं हो रहा है। * वाक्य प्रयोग द्वारा लिंग निर्णय ...
